Post office not delivering big packets
I have been sent a parcel weighing 17 kg by a friend in chennai. Our (sub) post office, operating out of Lakarpur (shiv durga vihar), serving Charmwood Village is refusing to deliver the packet as they say it is too big and bulky! (they claimed it weighs 40 kg, while my friend was charged only for 17 kg!)They want me to go to the post office, located in some obscure, small lanes/bylanes and fetch the packet myself. The post office at Chennai has taken the full amount for door delivery and yet this post office refuses to deliver as they claim they just have a bi cycle and a 'lady' post-man who cannot handle big parcels! My question is this: I have been charged for door delivery but am not getting the service: who is to blame? I spoke to some neighbours and they routinely face similar problems, where the post man just comes and delivers a hand written note requesting you to pick up your parcels yourself. Where do I formally complain and how do we rectify this matter? more

I think Mr Virmani is correct and an RTI will definitely expose delayed services and Md Arti lucky that she got the parcel as had it weighed less it could have been returned back with some comments. more

It is glad to hear that you have received the parcel. Now I would suggest rather make an appeal to put up a RTI application seeking date of receipt of parcel with the concerned post office and the date of delivery of the parcel to the consignee. This would be a step further to discipline the post office to deter them from troubling any one else. Madam I had spend almost 3 months in taking a penalty of Rs. 33/- from BSNL which ensured trouble free operation for the rest of the life. more

bharat ka MTNL or BSNL Deptt. ki service thik ho gayee hai lekin post office ki service thik nahi hui hai kyonki sare post office main local ke employee hai wo sirf hajiri lagane ke liye aate hai or salary lene ke liye aate hai. kam koi bhi ho wo karte nahi hai yedi parcel kisi ka aa jaye to de ke nahi jate hai jabki govt se uske delivery karane ke paise milte hai. more
