PPF account

Please clarify with regards to PPF :
1. For interest calculation should i deposit 'on or before 5th' or 'before 5th' of every month ?
2. Whether amount of deposit should be multiples of 500 only or any odd amount can be deposited ?

Thanks. more

Minimum deposit per annum is Rs500.00 more
Sir, the amount you deposit should be credited to your account before 5th of the month to avail the interest for the month. Any amount above Rs.100 can be deposited but there is a limit to number of times you can deposit in a financial year. lease check with Bank where you have your PPF a/c. more
i asked because, in internet, everywhere it was found 'before 5th'. So I thought before 5th is 4th. After that it will be added to next month balance. more
A minimum sum of Rs.100 and maximum of Rs.150000 can be deposited in a PPF a/c during a financial year. If any amount is deposited before 5th of the month, it earns interest for that month also. Should you have any other query please feel free to write. more
Multiples not multiplex more
Sir, Thanks. Is it that above 100 any amount, odd amount can be deposited? Or multiplex of 100s.
2. If it is 'before 5th,' is it up to 4th ? more
It has to be on or before 5th of the month. You can deposit later but the interest will not be earned for that month. About the amount to be deposited, check with the bank. If in doubt, deposit in multiples of 500 and the maximum is of course 1,50,000. more
Thanks.. i asked because, now i dep1500. Then if possible I increase to 1750/-. Can we do that. i will ask bank. more
