The govt of India organizes this event every year. I would like to understand whats the objective of an event like this. Is it plain networking or any business gets done here? more

As someone who was involved from prelimanary state of celebrating PRAVASI DIVAS piioneered by VAJPAYEEJI but its formation was engineered the late LM SINGHVIJI N IPS OFFICERS AJIT DOVAL N KM SINGH IN LONDON ITS FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLES WERE TO UNITE ITS DISASPORA IT WAS REFRESHING TO MEET PEOPLE OF INDIAN ANCESTRY FROM CHILE ARGENTINA COLOMBIA N BRAZIL AT THE FIRST PRAVASI DIVAS IN 2003 BUT NOW IT HAS BECOME A BUSINEES MEET RATHAN A DIASPORA CULTURAL LINKING INDIN ANCESTRY TO THEIR HOME COUNTRY I AMMDEEPLY CONCERN IT HAS LOST ITS FOUNDING PRINCIPLES DEVA == LONDON 0044 208 200 0931 more

Thank you for finding my comment useful. I think what PBD should do is have a Dept. that will 1. Listen to NRIs who want to introduce a project where the NRI is making no money, but spending their money to improve facilities e.g. 1.harvesting water 2.providing solar energy where there is no electricity, and for those who have it to reduce their elect. costs. 3.Manuf. of REVA electric cars tried to reduce pollution by introducing electric car, but it never caught on. 4. Fuel efficient Nano gives less pollution than motor bikes, yet motor bikes and Scooties are increasing in No. 5. Odd even was used to get publicity, as it is not implemented for 365 days. I am sure there are more suggestions from more NRIs & MEA 6. FINAL REQUEST IS TO ORGANISE IT IN DEHRA DUN, I wait for the day it happens. more

It brings together mainly NRIs who get in touch with local business H.q.s, I attended one of them in Delhi.After that I tried my best to get PIO& OCI streamlined. M.E.A. did not help me when I asked a simple question, why one member of family gets OCI in Kenya, & other sister is refused in UK, & why 1 brother gets it in Glasgow, & other is refused in London, both in U.K. So I did not find it useful, except MODIJI HAD A CURRAGE TO CHANGE PIO TO OCI.. more
