PRECIOUS RESOURCES BEING WASTED ON BELOW POVERTY LINE PEOPLE JUST FOR VOTE BANKS
1st thing Urban poor's. The Delhi Government is spending crores of rupees on 30+ lac below poverty line residents of Delhi.
In reality as I feel actually the figure should not be more than even 1% of those who live in Delhi/NCR. The problem is all these so called poor's of NCT of Delhi & NCR just stand in queues to get benefits of various kinds are in reality not poors. A housemaid in Delhi/NCR at least earn 6 to 10 thousand per month and all their family members are working. Their young children from the age of 8 years or so also start working. They too earn at least Rs. 2000. + good food and clothing PM. A family of 4 poors in Delhi/NCR at least earns approximately Rs.20,000/PM but as we don't have a system of calculating or supervising the income of all these people they always remain below poverty line and stand in the queues of benefits. I can bet if you can find a maid below 6000/PM + food in whole NCR. Their husbands are too working as there is acute shortage of labour in NCR. No one (In illiterate category) who is ready to work is unemployed. Only people who are very sick or very old or are drug addicts may not be working. All these are working as beggars and begging has become a quite rewarding profession. Roughly each beggar earns over Rs.300.00/daily. Many times I have asked these begging boys/girls & ladies to work, but their reply is why should I work for Rs.5000. when I can earn far more than this without doing anything.
If you think see how much money is being wasted on their welfare by the Governments and I am sure in reality most of these poor families have more income than the Central & state Government employees forget the private sector employee, although we are bearing the bills of their free water, free electricity and other freebies given by Governments.
If finance minister Mr. Jaitley is really interested in improving the picture of India and save lots of money being wasted on these so called poor's, we have to develop a way. The much criticised scheme of Aadhar Card can become handy in this.
Under IT act a new exemption under head Employment generation scheme may be introduced , where each taxpayer should be allowed to have a deduction up to Rs.20000 P/A for employing a help at his home. To avail this exemption the person must employ the help who got his Aadhar and has to submit the details of all the person employed during the year in his return. The data can be updated to the portal and can easily verified from all the sources as its normal process these people are working at many places. As IT department has already computerised all the returns this data can easily be bifurcated and compiled automatically. I am sure with this single step we can manage the things better at least in all the big cities immediately and am sure you will find a drastic reduction in number of so called below poverty line people. more
