Prepaid Recharge Frauds
Most of the mobile companies are running SCAMS, mark my word SCAMS when it comes to what they announce and what they actually credit to peoples account. No one, no TRAI, no body is bothered. Consumer Affairs must ask all members to share what they face. If you are a true consumer activist, please get a pre paid connection and recharge it. You will soon find out that they promise X and give you 0.5X-0.75X. They know for 300 rupees no one will go to consumer court, esp the poor who have no idea of what consumer court is.

Personal Experience with Airtel. Fully endorse Sarika. I recharge and hardly use the phone. When I want to use, it says No Balance. Blatant cheating. more

Cheating has become a fashion by all telephone operators and TRAI is a silent spectator - issuing direction without taking any action. more

Very Very true. Even if someone complains, no results. Other than crediting wrong recharge amounts, these Companies do siphon the credit balance lying in one's Prepaid Account. The Government has to take a sincere call -- to amend further the related Laws -- then, TRAI will fall in that line. more

The false bills, cheating you to subscribe to some junk program of theirs are all true cheating. The send you an sms and by mistake if a child or you click it, you are trapped and it is hell to get the subscription stopped. Worse, they have schemes which say if you dont say NO, then it will be presumed yes. So, you get cheated for doing nothing. But, the recharge amount is usually mentioned upfront. There are taxes. And, whatever the company charges is also mentioned upfront. more
