Price Control on Medical Devices

We need price control on all medical devices regardless of what the Trump administration thinks. Indias commerce minister should not give into demands and threats of Trump administration. We need to look after our poor (USA wont) and no matter what they say MRP rules and price control rules must be implemented on foreign made medical devices. more

This has been covered in the news today. Looks like medical lobbies are winning against the consumer. more
MRP Rules must prevail on indigenous as well as imported goods. There should not be dual policy on this important issue. more
Despite 71 years of Independence we are not able to manufacture 5% of Medical Equipment and that is the reason for our dependence on USA, UK & other developed countries. The Prices of the same could very well be controlled to make it affordable by common people if the greedy Government were to remove the high taxes they impose on it to pocket profits while blaming MNC's and suppliers. How many people would be ready to switch to Patanjali's Health Supplement if they are working out in Gym? They would rather prefer Whey Protein marketed by US MNC. It is a matter of trust. If a patient....one of your own kith and kin were to have stent implant, I am sure you would want the best...would you be ready to try out a Patanjali stent which could send you safely to another world? I guess not. Before taking on Trump or France's Macroni or UK's Theresa May...we need to have our own standardized production to challenge them and boycott their products. more
Well said. Harsh truths always tastes bitter. more
PALLAVI SHAH HAS OPENED A VERY IMPORTANT TOPIC. Fifty years back, I read an article "You can live in New York but not die. I am In USA, you can be healthy in USA and you shall not have any sickness . You will be fleeced to death. Medical Insurance $ 1500 every month. You have to pay some admission fees or registration fees. Doctor will prescribe month for one to three month and send the prescription to a Pharamacy. You can order if you want to be bed ridden for two more days or buy there. If insured, medicines are 20% of the price , if not 100%. The doctor prescription and medicine supply only for 30 days. we have run to him for another visit and another test even for a BP and diabetes. A nasal drop is $17 that too only on prescription. My friend came from India and was suffering from flu. His appointment was fixed One month seven days after. This system does not allow doctors to practice freely. In emergency even crematorium is not free. If we try to ape this US system. Hundreds of dead body will be waiting in the queue for burning ghat. Trump will twist the arms. We shall release those hands by dislodging shoulder joints. But do not allow this system to percolate in India. more
Yes MRP and price control rules must be implemented on foreign made medical devices. more
