PRICE INCREASE DUE TO GST - ANTI PROFITEERING?
Can we complain to the GST department for increase in price of a restaurant food dishes due to implementation of GST, whereas it should not have been the case. If, yes how can we? What is the procedure? more

The increase in tax as pointed out by Mr Rajay Kumar on account of increase in service tax is understood but in the event of any upward revision of the menu prices on the pretext of GST by any dishonest restaurant owner must be brought to the knowledge of the Consumers' Affairs Department, which should immediately initiate punitive actions their against and fine them heavily. However, last 3 months' experience of common men suggests that the government have, till now, utterly failed in protecting the consumers' interests and their officers are direction less. Any further delay in this regard may cost the party in power dearly in coming future. more

The assurance given by the government that there will be no price rise, has been proved to be wrong. Hence, it is the duty of the government to set the market and control the price. more

A nominal increase of 3% may have taken place because of 18% GST against 15% service charge earlier. But if restaurant fellow has increased the base price and uses the excuse of GST, better is to boycott such cheats. more

We r common citizen of India don't understand the logic of great educated pandit of India, we want base price of common food of India should be less. every retailer paying 5% kick back to whole sale dealer due to non registered with GST No and same 5% is taking from the consumer. This is the ground reality therefore all educated pandit should vist retail market or through : Sample Survey of India : if price are gone up like this , I am sure present govt will collapse. more

I can say that sales tax or GST is the tax for whom who is selling or producing items but it became the tax to pay by the people who purchase.In case of Income Tax the tax payer is the person who is having a slab of income.Both are TAX but being collecting in different ways.I may be wrong but in simple analysis I thought so. more

Sir, this forum to the best of my knowledge is not meant to discuss whether something is flop or hit. this is meant to discuss and come up with concrete suggestions. And I again repeat that status quoist and those who had most to hide are the ones who are cribbing most. If I was in that bracket I would have done the same thing. However please read the impact of GST on prices of goods and cost of services. Because some restaurant fellow is overcharging in the name of GST doesn't decide whether it is good or bad. I am reminded of first Gulf war in early 1990s. The day US started bombing Iraq ready made aata prices went up by two rupees per kg. Reason cited was Gulf war. Now you can perhaps draw the inference. more
