Price increase of a drug more than 400% in a single shot during Carona Pandemic

5-6 days back I purchased one strip of Limcee, 15 tablet strip, manufactured by Abott Healthcare Pvt. Ltd. for Rs. 14.86 at MRP. Today again I purchase the same Limcee, 15 tablet strip, for Rs 60/- as MRP. I was shoked to see the MRP increase of 400% in a weak and desired to know the difference between the tablets I purchased 5-6 days back and the tablet I am buying today, from the selling chemist, but he couldn’t tell much except that the strip with MRP 14.86 is a tablet “Limcee” and Tablet with MRP Rs. 60/- is Limcee + containing a mention on every strip “Health Supplement”, else there is no difference. A layman can’t differentiate between both these strips wheron, on both the strips it is written, “Vitamin C Chewable/Chewing tablet 500 mg”. Limcee is a vitamen C tablet an immunity booster. I and my wife, both senior citizens taking Limcee to enhance our immunity as a precaution during Carona Pandemic outbreak. I desired to buy the tablet with 14.86 MRP but the chemist told that the tablet with MRP Rs. 60/- only is available and tablet with old MRP Rs. 14.86 is not available any where in market nor with the stockist and we are purchasing and selling the same as per printed MRP basis. Should the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Health Ministry or any other department or any watchdog concerned with the matter, not to investigate how the price is increased more than 400% in a single stroke. It is very painful for people like me, to pay more than 400% higher price for the same drug. Has the price been increased by the manufacturer taking advantage of increased demand due to Carona Pandemic. more

This is ridiculous! Imagine making such profits out of misery! more
The GoI in the Department of Consumer Affairs may please like to interfere in the market to send out the word that the undue rise in the MRP will not be accepted. Please show up the intentions of the GoI to keep the prices particularly of medicines and other essential commodities within the prescribed range. So should the NPPA also get activated with respect to medicines, as also their availability. more
Why does one want to swallow Vit C tablets. It is available in plenty in fruits & vegetables more
Sir, Instead of Limcee whose current MRP is Rs.22.50 you have purchased Limcee plus who's current MRP is around Rs.70/-. So as you can see that though there is a marginal cost increase it has not increased 4 times. more
what is the difference in the ingredients and whether it is worth the additional Rs. 47.50 per strip? more
This should have been Limcee+. You might have noticed it's taste is also not good. For some period the company supplied this combination. Now a days Limcee is available with slight increase in the MRP. more
