Price of 63 salts capped - Must Read

I am sometimes amazed at what gets discussed and the speed at which Govt action happens on some of the things. Two weeks ago I had initiated the discussion on healthcare pricing not sure in which circle. Yesterday Government via NPPA has done price control on 63 salts and released the attached price list of 63 medicines. Are NPPA officials in these circles. If so, please identify your selves. It will be so helpful. Nevertheless, great step. information disclosure is way of the future.

I am marking this as resource for everyones benefit. more

GOOD STEP BY MODI GOVT. AND HEALTH MINISTRY. THERE IS A STRONGER NEED TO FIX MRP ON THE SURGICAL PROCEDURES AND MEDICAL TESTS. THERE IS LOT OF LOOT GOING ON IN THIS ALSO BY PRIVATE DOCTORS AND HOSPITALS, ALREADY CGHS APPROVED RATES FOR THESE ARE AVAILABLE. IT SHOULD BE ADOPTED AND STRONGLY IMPLEMENTED FOR HOSPITALS AVAILING PUBLIC FUNDED PERKS AND USING FREE/LOW COST PUBLIC LAND AND FACILITIES. more
Two points in the notification are very important and need proper understanding 1. The above mentioned retail price is applicable only to the individual manufacturer / marketeer as mentioned above i.e. who have applied for the same by submitting Form-I for price fixation / revision as stipulated under DPCO, 2013 and subject to fulfilment of all the applicable statutory requirements as laid down by the Govt. under relevant statutes/ rules, including manufacturing license permission from the Competent Authority i.e. the Central/State Licensing Authority, as may be applicable, by the concerned manufacturer/marketing companies. The above paragraph is a bit tricky as it mentions that it is applicable only to Individual marketeer/manufacturer who have applied for the same by submitting Form-I. 2. As per para 24(4) of DPCO 2013, every retailer and dealer shall display price list and the supplementary price list, if any, as furnished by the manufacturer, on a conspicuous part of the premises where he carries on business in a manner so as to be easily accessible to any person wishing to consult the same. The display of the prices in the Retailer and Dealers premises - Is it happening? Is it feasible for the price list of all medications to be displayed? At the least they can insist that a board be displayed that the Pricing details as per Notifications may be made mandatory to be provided to the customer on his request. This too would be only helpful to a few who are aware of the Notifications. Most the customers are not aware/uneducated/illiterate. more
This government is committed to improving the lot of the people. The use of IT is widespread among the govt depts and it is only needed to be demonstrated through wider publicity of the source ( not person ) of input and actions initiated or actions completed. If that loop is closed the vast intelligentsia in India which is today watching everything from sidelines will involve itself in the framing of policies as well as timely inputs for government to course correct. What actually happens today is done if the key depts in govt provide only their fax numbers and tel nos which are never attended to when called instead of providing e mail IDs or dedicated hotline. Hopefully some pmo staff would be in this forum and take this feedback to the thinktank for inclusive communications even at micro level more
These are not salts, they are formulations or medicines. I did not understand what you meant by salts, there could be others like me. The title is misleading. more
I have seen the list of medicines,in fact GOI ,as a Generic medicine for people opened several shops, where 10 tablets of many companies of Clopidagrel,or Atorvastatin are available for 25/- more
Yes, you are right. At times they are super efficient but most of the times they don't even listen. Depends wheather it suits them or not. more
