The decision to decontrol price of some essential medicines (including cancer medicines) was taken by the BJP Government somewhere in November last year. At that time we had raised this issue but did not get support from any other. This seems to be a conspiracy to support American MNCs. It is true that treatment is available at Delhi State Cancer Institute hospital at subsidized rates. However, PAN Delhi-NCR availability of facilities and doctors is so scarce as compared to the patients coming in for treatment, that such facilities actually do not serve much purpose. We have escalated this issue several times on PM's interactive portal and after a wait of 2 months we got a standard reply that "the Government has sufficient policies to combat the disease" I think it serves little purpose discussing these issues in these public forums. People from the group should take initiative and file more and more representations to the honorable health minister and the Honorable PM. Filing of PILs can be one good alternative since we have seen in the past that in this country action can initiate only with the stick of judiciary! Regards Arun winovercancer.net more

It is really very disgusting. Our leaders say some thing n do some thing. Ours is very poor country n prices of cancer drugs should be set at low level which should be beneficial to poor of the country. more
