Priorities Discussion 2 - Women and Child Safety and Development (Issues)

Friends,

Thanks for all the inputs over the last few days on the priority - Making Doing Business in India Easy. While the team is collating your inputs, we will move to the next discussion.

In light of recent events, it is only appropriate that we review our already listed priority - Women and Child Safety and Development, so timely submission can be made to the Government and actions can be taken.

Please highlight all the issues and challenges with respect to Women and Child Safety and Development in India. Lets us focus on the issues with this thread. We will follow this with a discussion on Root Causes and Solutions.

Once the three step process is complete (Issues, Root Cause and Solutions) we will collate everything and in addition to the PMO, the whitepaper would also be submitted to the Minister of Women and Child Development.

Everyone please share your views with a special request to all Women members in the circle to participate.

Thanks,

Rajendra Pratap Gupta more

What suggestions VIJAYALAXMI Narayan has given is very right and most appropriate. But we public also can contribute in our own way. Each one in his area should go as WITNESS to police station along with the Victim when any such crime as theft,jewellery,pick-pocketing, Rapes take place. Accompany the Victim and help him out. In this manner the burden on the police also will lessen to some extent .Then TOLL FREE no. is most perfect solution for such crimes handling. Also our PM should try to curb terrorism cells everywhere. Thanks Vijaya more
Few of the proposed solutions for Women and Child Safety/Empowerment are as below. These might help not only in deterrence of crimes but also facilitate early detection and effective response. 1. Surveillance infrastructure such as CCTV surveillance, Video & Sound Analytics, Facial Recognition Software (FRS), Automatic Number Plate Recognition System (ANPR), etc. should be implemented at strategic points and crime prone areas and augmented in all major cities and towns. Traffic surveillance has to be enhanced and integrated with City CCTV surveillance. 2. Cameras can be installed in school/college buses, late night cabs, etc. as being envisaged by few cities. 3. All the above cameras should be monitored in Master Command and Control Center and police operations team should be deployed for better response and incident management. 4. Criminal database should be created and integrated with existing applications & databases such as CCTNS, RTO, traffic data, ANPR, FRS, etc. 5. Mobile surveillance vehicles should be deployed for fast response to such crimes. Mobile Patrol Teams can help in patrolling high crime-prone areas. 6. Quick Reaction Teams for Women (QRTs) can be formed as first responders to address women related crimes. 7. A dedicated Women helpline system by Police should be created. 8. Strict punishment and long term/life time imprisonment for serious offenders to be effected to deter the rapist/criminals. 9. Awareness campaign about the key issues related to women safety is very important. Separate sessions in schools, colleges, companies, etc. can be conducted to inform the women about such situations. Road shows to be organized - simulated scenarios on different situations and how to deal with them. 10. Another alternate is to leverage technology to create awareness - open a website on women safety/empowerment and post issues, case studies, help videos, bravery acts, support requirement, counseling for victims, etc. 11. Companies should implement Whistle Blower Policy to raise voice against sexual harassment. 12. Martial arts/self- defense techniques can be made mandatory as part of education syllabus for all girl/women students in schools and colleges. This will bring self-dependency and empower women to fight crimes. more
The first impression I got from the new Government is Good governance. Some executives are good in this aspect of management and their strategy is follow up done properly and timely. Best solution to avoid corruption is to introduce a system like ZAP in the government. Big business houses are managing their business by introducing good systems and that too not people oriented. There is no difference managing a big business and managing a country. Corruption will end automatically if the affairs are system driven. We have good managers in our government. Their ability is not being fully utilized because of the age old systems that is followed. Banks, Railways, telecom and many other departments were able to change drastically even though they are not private. Modiji's dreams about governance will be complete, if the principles in the ZAP system for taking decisions is introduced in the government. This is the best way to avoid corruption in the government. more
Every MP should be made to join constituency circle. I can't wait till when Gen VK Singh will be joining the Ghaziabad circle. more
Dear Mr. Rajender Ji, I have traveled various cities in India and foreign as well and I found only 2 main differences between us and foreigners. 1) our mentality & thinking and 2) our country laws Well govt only uses the number 1 in election season and number 2 is used and mended by us according to our needs. I think every thing will be good when we will work on our mentality and govt will work for strengthening laws. And for safety of women you must refer SATYAMAVE JAYATE episode on women crimes. more
