Well...Marital Status in Indian society is taken as a sacrosanct relationship and except for disclosure of the same for Government office regulation requisition, people would not like to have elaborate discussion on the same. At the same time in the last 3-4 years in India, the LGBT movement which gathered storm in the wast also hit the Indian coast and we had these new gender bender people marching in Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru. Also in the last decade the live-in relationship (especially among youngsters) has also come to be accepted. Though people are in knowledge of the movement and the changes taking place even in India, being stamped as a Hindu Nation, the older generation would never accept the same sex and LGBT as a new format or in whatever format and would straightaway reject it. However it is also a fact that people who go through their old marriage albums often rue how happy they were as single....whereas marriage has burdened both spouses with lot of responsibilities. This new enlightenment is the reason behind so many divorce cases piling up in the courts all over the country. But as far as corporate is concerned the status is perhaps to give the HR an insight that the married person is a responsible person with family. If it is a bachelor, he would be more suited to the IT and Call center back end jobs...so the usage of sex identification is dependent on the needs of the corporate. more
