Profiteering on Sanitary Napkins

Most of the retailers in so called medical market of Delhi - Yousuf Sarai have reduced prices of sanitary napkins. On prompting them, they are saying these products are of old stock and we have no instructions from the company (Stayfree/Carefree/Whisper) manufacturer to reduce prices.

When we get newer price product, then we will sell at lower price, till then pay the higher prices.

I want to ask - Is this profiteering or not? more

When our Government has already extended deadline to use the existing stock and the existing packing, the situation is going to be like that. more
There should be no profiteering as far as sanitary napkins are concerned. The government and manufacturing companies should take a stand and come out regarding the MRP of unsold stock pre GST reduction and announce that all previous stock will be sold at a price after considereng the GST cut, irrespective of MRP .This is an issue of immense importance concerning the health of millions of our mothers, sisters and daughters and should be taken seriously. However,as far as shopkeepers are concerned, this does not seem to be profiteering from their side as far as old stocks are concerned since they have been procured at a certain price with built in GST component and the MRP at which they were supposed to sell earlier stands till the new printed MRP stocks come, unless there is a definite directive from the government to sell old stocks also at reduced new MRP with reduced GST component, with a compensation clause for the shopkeepers.Otherwise, the shopkepers will be losing. more
first lets understand gst , do correct me if wrong a product sold for 100, if gst is 10% it goes up to 110, in case gst price drops to 5 % the product becomes 105 , but the tax has already been collected by the supplier , the only profit the seller makes on the differnce 5% of the 10% , since gst is collect on final value of the product , the best way to resolve this is return all unsold products to the manufacturer ( this may not be done physical and claim the same from the govt ) if this has been done by the seller i agree with all it is profiteering if the sale is happening at old , if there are any account specialists they will be able shed better light on this , please do correct me if wrong unless the govt makes procedures simpler gst is a tedious more
This is a naked truth. Inspite of reduction in GST, the products are sold at old rates on the plea that till the retailers get newer price product, then we will sell at lower price. more

Our hon'ble members have given their views but I am really sorry to say that none of them had answered the question of Meeta Shah that whether it is a profiteering or not?? more
