Proper sign board On the trains Compartments/ on all the trains.
Subject: SIGN BOARDS IN TRAINS FOR CLEAR INDICATION OF THE START & DESTINATIONS:.
: Travellers depends mainly on the signboards on the trains to identify to board the right Train. Many of the times one can see a signboard with 3 names of the trains.

NEW DELHI-CHENNAI-NEW DELHI OR NAGPUR -CSTM -NAGPUR.
The incident/accident occurred on dt 05Jan2019 when both the trains 12615 & 12616 were standing on NAGPUR station on platform no.1 & 2 respectively.Ladies passengers intended to go towards Delhi direction wrongly boarded the Grant Trunk Expr 12616 towards Chennai direction.When they noticed,they boarded wrongly in 12616 instead of 12615 ,they jumped from running train while the train was passing through Ajni(Nagpur) station.The mishap happened and Mrs.Kalpana Kishor Kharwade died on the spot while her daughter sustained serious injuries.
Many a times this happened with many of the passengers because of wrong SIGN BOARDS are hanging on the train compartments. It is suggested that the sign board should not indicate TO & FRO RETURN destinations. i.e.more specifically,if the train is going from New Delhi To Chennai, the signboard should be as 'NEW DELHI-to-CHENNAI' and vice versa.
This way we can avoid accidents and save valuable lives of the passengers. more

The problem lies in (a) Unwillingness of our country men to work (b) Perhaps rationalization of employee strength. There was a time when the boards used to be reversed meticulously at destinations and arrows used to indicate the next destination not long ago. Due to the reasons listed above among some others (perhaps such as maintaining and preserving rake and boards. This becomes a task when rakes are rotated between different trains to reduce lay-off time), this practice has been replaced by the present system. It is not that Railways alone or at fault, even travelling public don't apply their mind and behave callously as done in the example quoted. Considering this inescapable fact, Electronic boards displaying route and destinations controlled from Guard's cabin may be of immense help. more

Whenever there is change of platform, stoppage of the train must be increased depending on the distance of new platform and it should be repeatedly announced on old and new platform that train will halt for extra ......minutes. more

Moreover, many times what happens is, a train is announced to be coming to a certain platform and instead of it, some other UNANNOUNCED train comes on that platform. I had boarded such a wrong train twice in my life and had to return from a station as I came to know about it. more
