Provision of Class Action Law Suits

Two years back there was bug talk about how New Consumers act willl be big boon to consumers as it will enable class action law suits.

Well so far both the act and the regulator CCPA have been big busts. Other than calling some companies by sector and warning them or issuing weak advisory on service charge (restaurant) or a small fine on ecommerce cos they have literally not done much.

Can LC manager please revive this subject with Government. So many issues everywhere. I saw this morning the post on fasttag scam where toll is being charged twice. CCPA should book NHAI why not I mean. Similarly today supreme court Directed ford india to pay 42 lakhs as compensation on a defective car endeavour where oil leaks. I mean the whole lot is likely having the issue. Why is CCPA failing to act/ more

I think the relative laws we have to deal with such matters are having lot of loopholes and are not capable enough to deal with consumer related issues in effective desired manner coupled with undue delay in finalizing such cases. Until the shortcomings are removed and provisions are made for more stringent action against the concerned and the cases are disposed of expeditiously, there is little chance of changing the scenario. Simultaneously, there is a need to put end to corruptions involved. more
In this fast paced life, the role of the regulator is even more important in protecting the consumers. more
