Punishment for charging over MRP
If a trader has charged me above MRP and I have receipt and packaging to prove the same, what is the process to file complaint and what is the penalty/punishment he will face? more

Could some legal luminary specify which Law / Act / Rule / Regulation (With Act / Regulation Name and Para Number please) is violated by charging more than the MRP ? From what I've been able to find, the Acts only require the MRP to be specified and visible so that the Consumer can see the price at which the article "should" be sold - I have found no bar / restriction / mandatory requirement on charging more or less than MRP in any Act / Rule / Regulation ... Do you think this will really help? Every restaurant in Mumbai charges 10% service charge although the government has banned it but they impudently charge it. more
