Punjab Govt is a failed Govt on stubble burning

See the attached charts and judge for yourself friends. Punjab is the only one not showing year over year improvement.

I would solely blame Bhagwant Mann for his incompetence and Arvind Kejriwal for not living to his promises!!

Sad state. If UP and Haryana can improve why Punjab hasnt. more

https://epaper.hindustantimes.com/Home/ShareArticle?OrgId=4115dc7e28c&imageview=0 Here an important fact mentioned, "Organic carbon has increased from 22% to 32%", which an almost doubling of black carbon at 14% up from 7.4%! Harm therefore more insofar as soil fertility, that would otherwise benefit through composting, now decreases. However, diesel per se pollutes. GRAP order specifically targets them, read points 2 and 3 therein. more
The so called double-engine ki sarkar in UP and Haryana helping. Punjab government says that centre state contribution ratio towards compensation for biomass burning of 50% must be borne by the centre, which the latter rejected. Punjab's combined harvester harvesting, that leaves a stubble, gained mass popularity there 22 years back. Stubble must be removed before planting the next crop. Another machine, happy seeder, can mechanically do that. However, such machines cost money, requiring initial investment, costing over Rs.1.65 lakhs. Before that all grain was harvested manually. So ultimately there remains the economic viability question. more

May I offer comments on the matter in following points: 1. I have no reason to believe that Parali burning in Punjab effects NCR. Why it does not affect Hariyana? Then how could smoke from Punjab cross over to Delhi leaving Hariyana unaffected. There is no Parali burning in Hariyana. Delhi should follow the Hariyana Model. 2. There is a need to conduct a study for understanding reasons/sources of smoke in Delhi/NCR. Perhaps IIT Delhi could help. Just making propaganda and advertisements wouldn't help. 3. Parali burning is continuing in Delhi too. What steps has the local government taken in this regard, except wasting public money on advertisements. 4. Last year Kejari boasted of having provided a chemical, invented by Dr. Ashok Sharma of icar, for enhanced decomposition of parali in the fields and conversion to manure. What has happened this year? 5. Instead of making noise, the Kabari should wake up. He is taking everyone for granted. Attempting good business of fooling the public. more
