Evaluate professors, colleges and universities by number of research papers published and patents registered. UGC should be charged with the job of accepting the research papers. All Government projects below a reviewable limit must go to colleges at least at PG level who will form a top class team of professors and students to handle them. This will increase the credibility of teaching standards of that institute in the minds of admission seekers, as well as ensure perfection sans corruption in work besides rewarding performers. Such projects can be taken as standards for other operators too. The selected students will be based on their performance so this practice will create healthy competition among students. more
It is unfortunate that most Indians still evaluate success by a score rather than contribution to actual implementation of work. I have interviewed an M.COM. candidate who replied to my question" what papers you wrote at your qualifying exam?" He said" paper-1 , paper-2, paper-3 ... " What is the use of such degrees? I know many civil engineers who hardly can perfectly read my architect son and cousin's maps. I know science grads adoring financial corporate positions. Hence the need to shift our focus. more

If government does not find appropriate college teaching in their requirement it means there is scope for introduction of such a course. If institute can't accept the project they will have to improve their standards. This way both ends will benefit. more
