I am planning to retire shortly. Can I leave my EPF money in the EPF account for a few years as the interest rate is good? Will my interest income after retirement in my EPF account attract income tax. How long can one leave the money with EPF and earn interest after retirement without any hassles?

A subscriber may keep his amount with PF. But how long interest will be paid on this amount. Understand that after 60 or 61 years of age it will not earn interest but fund can be maintained. Please clarify. more

Withdraw PF and invest the amount in LIC-Baristha Bima Yojana & State Bank of India Senior Citizen Fixed Deposit. You shall get contracted higher interest for a long period. Check & Decide. more

HI, Its obvious to keep your PF amount in the PF authorities for interest. Please note the interest will be given by PF department only two years after that if there is no contribution then therewont be any interest from the PF department. You can withdraw this amount and invest in govt., owned institutions. No TDS for the PF amount. For example if your pf amount is Rs.100/- invest Rs.50 into Govt., bonds for a stipulated period and get the principal plus interest. Remaining Rs.25 keept in in your SB account for any emergency. There is further Rs. 25 left out better deposit thin in your state transport finance department which will pay you constant interest monthly and security for your investment. Donot invest in private financial institutions. Please give nominee for all your investments. donot forget. Thanks and Regards, GK more

How old R U ? The PF amount will remain with EPFO until U apply for its withdrawal. The tax part on the interest Income so far exempted if remained with EPFO. in future it depends on future Finance Acts. more

Hi, Raju, I believe your EPF amount will earn interest for a specific time period, may be a year after you retire. Thereafter there may not be any interest accruing. Please check at EPF site or go to the RPF. You may even call them and find out. Best wishes - L M V RAMA MURTHY more
