Quota in Reservations.
I wish to ask a general question, that is probably in the minds of millions of Indians. How is that inspite of booking a ticket two months in advance , you still get it in waiting list. Please try it yourself if anyone has a doubt. Even with lot of time, you still get a seat with waiting list of 130 or 170 etc. Why. Also, you see that many a times, waiting list till 225 get cleared. I am saying this about all the trains. I think most seats in coach(out of 72) of a sleeper class are reserved in the name of MP/MLA/Minister/Sports/Defence/Railway employees,Travelling agents or other VIPS etc. And the common man invariably suffers.
I want to know , how many seats are reserved in a coach(say a sleeper coach of 72 seats), how many are left for booking for the general public. Can anybody give information on this more

NOT SOO EASY TO TAKE ANY DECISION OF THE REASON! It is to be initially sorted as to how reservations are differentiated and then can allocate the quantum of seats with birth to different categories of travellers, as I feel...... more

This must be investigated by Railway Vigilance Dept. We dont know what they are doing in such cases. Atleast 1 day before, our berth should be confirmed or rejected, so that alternative mode can be thought of. This is all due to useless and inefficient Railway system in India. more

We may think of quota only according to the age, gender and do away with all other quota, in order to have a level playing field. more
