Rail Fare Increase - request for Poll
I think some of us understand that fares have to be increased to givebetter service and safety features. I think what Railways is missing is that this surge model gives upset stomach to people as one's never sure. I suggest a poll in this circle is done asking on same trains do passenger prefer flexi fare or flat fare increase. Secondly, a poll is needed asking passengers if with the flexi fare, they will travel by train or low cost flight. This may lead to refinement of the existing order/ruling. more

It was in the midst of Diwali Vacation,I wanted to go for my departed mothers last rites, to Nagpur from Mumbai, but could not go because of non availability of reservation, cost of flights were exorbitant, and not affordable! I could not get Tatkat quota,I even gave a requisition to the DRM office at Mumbai CST, giving the reason, but......they did not bother to provide me a birth from their emergency quota of births, perhaps they did not feel the occasion emergency enough.....though the matter was an emergency situation. At last I took my car put and drove 1000 Km to Nagpur from Mumbai to attend my mothers funeral and complete the last rites. I would like to suggest, that there should a special quota of births say 10, in Second Sleeper Class, in every long distance trains which should be allotted to such emergencies and in case of job interviews. If remained unused, they can be released to the WL passengers at the time of preparation of the charts. more

Flexi fare also apply for Ist class tickets and all VIP tickets. Railway need to check the usefulness of free tickets the person already paid for their work like minister / railway staff / government authority than why free ticket given by railways. Railway give them preference but every things is chargeable basis that may be central government / state government. Special cota ticket directly two times of tatkal ticket and paid by traveler at the train that is collect by TTE. Zero rupee ticket only issued to defense solders only there officers are also chargeable basis. ither that was pay by person or by their department that is there organization matter but railway take money for their service. Hope you are not agree with me but it can be a big impact on profit. more

....But railways should have good operational expenses control...rather then always going to passenger and drain their pockets...No 1 foolishness on Premium tatkal concepts...slowly all GOVT machinery becoming MNCs..coming out of public service...If Railway comes out of public service concept...then it can be privatized like telecom...with safety precautions...need wider consultations on this more
