Rail's arbitrary, unjust, illogical CANCELATION CHARGE of Rs 180 (60x3) for 3 WaitList e-tickets!

Commoners suffer loss while Railway makes money through arbitrary, unjust CANCELATION CHARGE of Rs 60 even for short-distance Seating Reservation , cancelled by Railway ITSELF !
I PROTEST that WITHOUT SERVICE or ANY stationery/ manpower COST Rail deducts Rs 180 (60x3) for 3 WaitListed e-tickets cancelled by Rail (NOT ME) as the booking was not confirmed. I had paid Rs 255 for 3 SEATING reservation (PNR 6318368083) through IRCTC website but Rail cancelled booking (SEVERAL HOURS LATER from Chart preparation) & I HAD TO BUY FRESH TICKETS TO TRAVEL. In such cases commoners suffer Double blow- agony + troubles and monetary loss.
I want redress : REFUND of Rs 180 illogical cancellation charge as I GOT NO SERVICE OF RAILWAY at all more

Yes , Railways charges hefty amount towards Cancellation. Till they say they are at loss. more  
Except clerical charges, there should not be any other fixed charges for wait listed train tickets. You are not assuring the journey, but charging hefty amount. more  
Fully Agree. Cancellation fee, when done by the Railways themselves, is grossly unfair. more

Consider carefully: 1. In such a case people DONOT CANCEL the WL e-ticket at all but RAIL ITSELF CANCELS ticket as reservation IS NOT CONFIRMED , what is our fault? 2. Unlike counter-ticket, in case of WaitList e-ticket JOURNEY IS NOT ALLOWED even in general coach!! So tickets are totally useless 3. In IRCTC website/ app one can only make 6 transactions per month, so there is very little scope of unnecessary booking 4. In case of e-ticket Rail DOESNOT INCUR ANY cost in any form, so why such absurdly high cancellation charge of Rs 60 per passenger even for short-distance booking? more  
Computers were introduced in India on large scale during Rajiv Gandhi's premiership. Railways took small steps towards digitization as trained staff were not available at that time. But now there is not dearth of competent staff and programmers / software engineers. As far as cancellation charges on tickets which are cancelled by Railways itself are concerned it should be taken into consideration that nobody throws baby along with bath water. So for misdeeds of some people it is unjustifiable to punish all and sundry. Railways have different codes for Agents and public users. A minor alteration in software can bring in desired result to find bulk booking by agents. Agents can be charged for cancellation of waiting list tickets whereas single users can be kept out. more
