Railway can never improve.

Railways can never improve.
Yesterday I went to see off my sister who was going from Hazrat Nizamuddin to Pune by A/C express. The train departs at 21.35. We reached plateform at 2100hrs. There was no display of locations of coach nos. The train came at plateform at 1917hrs and people had to run for their coaches.
Now see another great example. My sister had the reservation in A5 and berth no was 46. We went to A5 and to our surprise we found that the coach doesn't have berth no 46. We did not know what to do. After some time I found attendant and he told that 45 and 46 are not there. You wait for TT , he will adjust you. I left my sister in the coach telling her that TT will give you the berth. At 10pm I got the call from my sister and she told that TT came and informed that your berth is 15 no in A5. See how efficiently Railways are working. All this is happening in capital of the country. You can imagine what may be happening in small places. more

As Mr Mahesh Chandra rightly pointed out, Indian Railways will never improve because it has no will to improve. I have noticed even in Howrah Station where the trains are given on the Platforms just before 20 or 25 minutes before the departure time whereas, the platforms are left vacant for more than an hour. The position of coaches is displayed just before the trains reach on the platforms. With the result hundreds of passengers coming from different far off places, waiting to know the position of their respective coaches for hours start running here and there to reach to their coaches coupled with the handcart walahs creating total disorder on the platform, as the departure time approaches fast. It is the characteristic of Indian Rails which is least bothered for convenience of the passengers. But they do not lag behind to make all big claims. As far as cleanliness is concerned, its better not to speak about. As long as commissionkhori continues, we should not live in fools' paradise. more
On 01/12/2017 I was travelling back from calicut( kozikode ) in 3 tier AC coach no. B1 when we reached kankavli on the 2nd by netravati from trivandrum I spotted a contractor staff in black uniform pulling out garbage box provided under the steel wash basin and was opening the door to throw it outside. Immediately I stopped him and asked him what he plans to do? he said he wants to throw the garbage on the tracks.I asked him to call his supervisor.simultaneously in between the 2 bogies there were 2 garbage big bags fixed on metal rings on either side of the crossing bridge between 2 bogies. After 10 minutes he came with a garbage bag and put garbage in it and took it away. When I looked out I saw on either sides of the tracks there were plastic cups, paper /foil used food trays, disposable plastic spoons and newspapers and fruit skin lying unattended. I asked his supervisor " if this is what you are doing after the garbage is collected then we dont need your help straight away we can throw through the windows and doors the garbage out. your company bribe the railways to get this contract and this is what you are doing in the garb of cleanliness".The name of the contracting company I think is infra.all the staff were speaking malayalam.(keralites) There was a big sticker near the wash basin which specify the responsibilities of the contractor including garbage collection and disposal.Very unprofessional. Mr.Piyush goyal must take note of this. more
On Monday morning, I have been waiting for the Steel Express at Kharagpore for my journey to Howrah. Except the announcement, there was no scope for knowing the platform of the incoming train. I would request the Railway Board for installation of display board ,like those at the Airport,in such important station. more
Hi, l had the opportunity to travel to Mumbai in double decker. It,'s good 🚆, but not good maintenance. No clealiness.. Rain water was dripping from the roof. While traveling l noticed why railways are always in loss; scrap was lying near the tracks. Railway area was filthy. This scrap may be worth crores of rupees.. Filth should be removed and area can be utilized for housing or public gardens. Railway minister we request you to take appropriate action. In many stations in village area , despite having the public address system, they don't make announcements. It is for the passengers to keep looking to the side from where the train is expected to come and make guess about the platform to reach. It so happened with me at Goa Madgaon station that the enquiry counter could not tell me to which platform the Vasco passenger train will arrive. I had to take the foot overbridge in running with luggage to board the train . The railway is not improving as required because we are not punishing them for their mistakes or negligence. more
