In case of deficiencies in service, action should be taken against the Railway Catering contractor. more

A dog biting a man is no news. But if a man bites a dog, then that is news! Similarly, if a contractor is fined, it is no news. After all, it is these contractors who feed the top politicians and top officials! Why has the situation in the Railways come to such a pass? It is evidently with the covert acquiescence of the officials. The Railway Minister and the zonal General Manager must resign on this issue. I had a worse encounter in the LTT Exp. train no. 18520 while coming from Secunderabad to Vizag on 24 March 2018. My PNR No. was 8603951332 and I was allotted a lower berth in B-cabin in H-1 bogie of Ist A.C.coach The train was late by 1-1/2 hrs. So it departed at 10:30 hrs. The cabin was stinking and dirty. The used bedrolls of earlier passengers had not been removed. I had paid Rs 1, 535/- through my nose for this journey. I had to wait for 15 mts. for the Attendant to come. In the meantime one boy about 24 yrs. old was moving around in the passageway. He had an altercation with some passengers in A- cabin. They were speaking in Telugu. So I could not understand.I understood only one word, i.e., " ... Visakhapatnam" as uttered by the boy. He kept repeating," ..Visakhapatnam ....".I asked the passenger in A-cabin as to what the boy was shouting. He clarified that the boy was threatening to assault him in Visakhapatnam!" The situation had come to a BOIL with the boy getting more and more furious as the verbal duel continued. We waited for the Conductor/ TTE to come. I reported the matter to the TTE when he came after some 15 mts. and asked him how such an antisocial element had come inside the Ist class coach. I further told him to report the matter to the Railway police. He said he will see what can be done. This incident must be taken seriously as the safety of passengers is jeopardised. Evidently, the boy was allowed inside by the Conductor /TTE in collaboration with the Railway catering personnel to act as an intermediary for sale of the food items. Both the TTE and the Conductor of the first class coach should be taken to task for this dangerous situation. If we scratch below this incident, we may find a mafia gang operation in the Railways and their stranglehold is so strong that none can take any action against them. This case must be investigated by the CBI to arrive at the root of the problem. I am also sending this complaint to the Railway Minister and the Director / CBI by post. Hope they take prompt action. more
Mr. Venkat, you are definitely out of your head and mind. What Mr. Shankar Saran wrote was RIGHT. It is people like you who are suggesting LONG ROUTES for solutions which, even you know, will take years to get resolved.

'Fining' these lawless people/vendors in the train is absolutely useless and nonsensical. Even if the culprit is to be fined, fine him in such way that he goes completely broke and is financially ruined for ever.

Why not terminate the contracts of the culprits within 48 hours and black list them for ever? Let the contractors go to hell. Who cares?

It is only with the connivance/Chalta Hai type attitudes of all sorts of GMs and other Railway officials that such rowdyism/dadagiri keep occurring within Railways (whether it is platforms or moving trains).

At times, innocent, helpless victims of such preventable unpleasant situations needs to take the law into his own hands when corruption bogs him down. It is better to throw these rowdies out of the running train to get rid of them for good. more
Sir, your complaining is OK. But asking the GM and Railways Minister is not correct. If I am not wrong Railways has a tollfree no. for safety of passengers and you could have called that number. Unfortunately I am not having that no. Any member of local circles who have that no. please share. more
Why the TTEs cannot check and enforce the rules? more
