Railway loot in local fares

Recently I bought a local train ticket. It used to cost ₹15 pre-Covid. Now it’s ₹45.

On enquiry, I was told that the ticket prices of local and express trains are equal now.

Also, the minimum price is ₹30 instead of ₹5/10.

What is going on Rail Mantri and Railway board more

During the period of Lalu and Mamta as Railway Ministers, Pax fares were never increased, with the result pax fares became a liability. This loss was born by increasing Cargo fares and thus we lost Cargo Load. Modi Govt has understood this anomaly and are now correcting so that Railways can get more Cargo Load. Also WDFC and EDFC are efforts in that direction. This will reduce Logistic Cost and our products will be competitive in Domestic and International Markets. more
Fake Post. should be removed & like posts should not entertain on Load Circles. There is No fare hikes in local trains. Only few trains are converted in Express due to increase in their speed & less travel times. more
In Kerala after Covid there is no passenger trains available..all the passenger trains renamed to 'Special express' or 'unreserved special express' and charging the express train fares. And most of the trains do not have the de reserved coaches, only two- three general coaches available. They removed ladies compartments also. more
It is true that railway is charging excessive fares in local and other trains. Now you know that IRCTC is charging Rs 250 or more for bed rolls those were free in AC compartments. I am always saying that all general compartments in each train should be air-conditioned because the real owner of the country is traveling in the train like cattle whereas the servents, netas and officers are enjoying full comfort everywhere without doing anything and without paying anything.. Instead of jacking up fares by 100 to 200%, IR should focus on maximizing revenue by controlling cost of governance, discarding all free passes, curtailing tickless travel, increasing retail parcel service etc. Increasing private rail lines will also help in reducing fares. more
