RAILWAY MINISTERS REPLY IN THE RAJYA SABHA :

On the trail of Mr. Mittal’s post , I like to add some inputs regarding The Rail Minister’s reply to Questions in Rajya Sabha . Two aspects are seen to be promising in his reply

1. Rail Minister’s assurance to overhaul the obsolete signal system :
When this is done we the passengers stand to gain . First of all the accident rates will be reduced drastically . Railways can Aim for NIL ACCIDENTS .Next the perennial delay in arrivals and departures of trains will be stopped to a greater extent .

2. Increase occupancy and enhance revenue : Towards this the various Data regarding the
current occupant rate for each class of travel in the railways.
Which are the periods the occupancy is low. Obviously Tuesday to Friday are the low occupancy and low season [ as railways itself had classified ].
On the contrary high occupancy and rush for tickets are during the festivals season Pongal /shankaranthi , Puja , Deepawali , Christmas and New year as well as other religious festivals , and the schools / colleges holidays , Public Holidays near the week ends , and week ends. That is when the rush starts , and the tickets are sold on the second day opening of reservation from the 120 days. Tragic yet people keep booking waitlisted tickets , hoping that the W.L. will be cleared near the date of travel . We don’t know how this happens .

Further the Ministry has also asked circle members feed backs on Ticketing touts is really a positive step to wards curbing the malpractice that has been prevalent all these decades. When a common man tries to book ,he/she isn’t able to get where as , the uncommon person gets the tickets with ease . Once again we don’t know how .

NOW RAILWAYS HAS PASSED THE BALL IN OUR COURT . IT DEPENDS ON OUR FEED BACK AS EVERY ORGANIZATION HAS THEIR OWN INVISIBLE BLACK SHEEP. HOPE WE WILL SUCCEED . Jai Hind more

Big rackets are being operated at all Major Stations in India by touts in connivance with railways officials. These touts can get us a confirmed ticket even during the peak season rush by charging a premium of 100% - 200% of the ticket fare. Till when will the concerned vigilance officers turn a blind eye to this situations which are rampant thereby generating huge amounts of black money. Will the corruption free India become a reality? I doubt!!! more
Today's Times of India wrote about an airplane cleared for take off having to abort because the pilot found a smaller aircraft on the same runway at Chennai Airport! This incident has happened apparently because of authorities pressurising the Air Traffic Controllers to use both runways relegating passenger safety to second place. Its a necessity that the personnel managing the Railways or controlling its operations should have a prime commitment to SAFETY above all else, as also a total blankout of CORRUPTION. The Tribunal has rapped the Railways stating that the bridges built during the British period are in far better shape than the bridges built after independence which need recurrent repairs. I have started to travel intermittently by mumbai local trains since the time my son told me that there is a separate row of seats specially for senior citizens.when I asked him how to identify them. he said its written somewhere in the coach.now its been 6 months that I have been searching that sticker/board that the seats are for senior citizens.there are announcements done in different languages to respect and offer seat for senior citizen. I request the railway authourities in mumbai to place a small board or a sticker with bold letters in 2 commonly read languages on top around the seat area.because you lose your seat in the process of searching one for you as there are people rushing from all stations to find a seat and I had to sit anywhere I got one.people taunt in marathi, hindi and english but they dont pull me up because I am a senior citizen. more
A case to be considered favourably more

Dynamic fare system being introduced is a very practical and good idea and would further improve the ticketing system and occupancy of the trains. more
