Railway strategy for exit from lockdown

The CEO of LocalCircles was talking in CNBC and sharing the poll result which I think captures the pulse of people quite well.

I like the idea about letting trains run between unlocked districts without stopping at locked districts.

Can the experts advise the feasibility of this? The example shared is between amritsar and jabalpur without stopping at new delhi. Can the time tables and new schedules be figured out?

Or otherwise run the train and let it stop at ndls for same time. Just that station is locked for local people. more

I agree with Mr.Mohapatra. Moreover if there are demonstrations on the tracks in the red zones when the train is passing, how will the crowd be controlled ? It may end up with the situation worsening and perhaps getting out of hand. more
Railways should utilize this opportunity(lockdown) to clean up all Stations, Premises, Remove Encroachments. For Mumbai Suburban local trains; building a Boundary Wall on the 'Right of Way' is a MUST from the point of view of human safety. This is the best time to do it. In short, by the time the LOCKDOWN is lifted and normal commute is restored, the passengers should feel the difference and appreciate the Railway Management and Employees. more
Train can be run only for the person who are blocked somewhere out of their hometown because of their journey for one reason or another they took before 24 /03/2020. They must be staying forcibly at the hotels, at relatives/friend's house which can cause uncomfort to both the host and the guest. Also it can cause social distancing impossible. It is not advisable for financial purposes too. Thus the govt should think over this quickly.                                                    Further, Railways can also use this opportunity to complete incomplete maintenance work of the railways as all lines are clear to do the job without Maga block etc. Not only the rails but passengers racks can also be cleaned, repaired, renovated at this juncture with following lock down rules. The COVID 19 has been been controlled so far. In case of any relaxation in journey, it will spread like any thing. Trains can move to give relief to stranded passengers, but it will be difficult to control the crowd. Can there be any train with strict hygenic terms and conditions ??? If no, then please wait some more time. more
The population that we have and the way we have been travelling in trains, opening them at this stage may open a flood gate of virus infection. Instead of trains, let the buses ply selectively between the states and the districts. In cities and town let the people travel, keeping social distancing and face mask, on foot, cycle & two wheeler (without pillion), four wheeler(single passenger in rear seat) etc. Even cycle Rikshah may be allowed with a single passenger seated back to back in the rear. What ever rules and regulations are made by the Govt., should be practical and strictly observed in letter and spirit. more
