Railway working condition now .
Southern Railway circle: There are lot of things to be improved they are---
1.Railway Stations-Central & Egmore- are generally over crowded When trains arrive from the yard people overcrowd at the entrance, especilly in the Unreserved compartments. More number of Unreserved compartments to be allocated. Emergency Quota are not properly given for emergent purposes like, death cases, accidental cases. marriage cases, court attending cases, prior appointment cases etc., but favoritism shown and VIP raj prevails there. VIPs unnecessarily delay tour visits and at the last minute rush for VIP Quota.
2.Stations are maintained very ugly. No Spitoons, inadequate dust bins at convenient distances, children are allowed to urinate in the platform itself, All Railway parcels are piled in the platform itself far ahead of arrival time, thereby hindering passengers movements in the platform, coolies park push carts on the way in the platform itself hindering passengers' movement, many last minute confirmation of reservation news does not reach passengers, While train is brought from the yard the engine is not parked at stipulated location so that the coaches are not at the designated locations. This causes old people suffer very much. On very many occasions, the first coach is parked on the rear side (reverse direction) of the train. Hence those expect train at assigned location have to run to far most distance. Announcement of Arrivals and departures are not done atleast 10 minutes before actual arrival. On many occasions, 2 minutes after arrival on the platform the Sign Board is updated. The controlling authorities are not keen and careful and passing of information to the announcer is not up to the mark. Now a days terrorism is a regual threat. Hence constant vegil must be on crowded areas like Rly.Stations and this is not followed strictly. Personal checking is just formal and baggage checking by scanner is very slow. Persons who have no work with in the
Rly. station are not to be allowed. On rainy days, the persons without shelter are allowed inside the suburban platforms and make the safety of passengers risky. If any train accidents occur especially sub urban train routs, the dead bodies are place on the platforms for hours together due to red tape procedure. This makes the situation in the platform among passengers allergic could not view the sight. The railway canteen are generally given to private catering contractors and the quality,quantity, hygienic condition of food and canteen are not at all checked by Station masters. Late arrivals of trains are not properly ascertained by Station Master from the concerned location Station masters and announced as correctly as possible. more

Self pulling trollys like in Airport are to be made available in major railway stations, otherwise people feel very difficult to carry the bags/ boxes. There will be a lot of sponsors to purchase and provide the trollyes to Railways, so Rlys need not bear the cost. Only management of trollys like bringing in and keeping together is to be done. A suitable mechanism may be worked out for this. more

Brake wan Luggage should be restricted very much and they must be brought to the location of platform only after the train has arrived. Parcel bundles are generally piled up on the platforms causing hindering of the movements of the passengers and citizens, and they have to climb the parcel and get down to cross them. The verification of contents of the closed parcels are doubtful and God alone should save the passengers. In general water availability free of cost is questionable, and philanthropist of local area have setup purified/filtered water machine. In many outside the city/town Rly.platforms the platforms are not properly covered against sun and rain. Sign boards indicating the Name of the station are not visibly painted at both ends of the platforms and also in the middle of the segment of platform visibly in three languages, 1.Hindi,2.English,3.Local language. Catering vendors who start from the catering van of the train generally make the train like a market place, and frequently call the attention of the passenger which disturbs the calm atmosphere during travel. Private hawkers are entering in small stations and sell their own products and make the train like Bazaar. More over some unlawful elements are also entering in the guise of sellers and commit crime when hubbub settles down. Unauthorized persons sitting near the entrance of the train, near toilet, connecting corridors of two biggies, etc, are to be banned and the TTE should be made responsible and accountable. VIP/VVIP culture which irritates the passenger due to delay in departure of the train, unscheduled change of running time of the train, should be stoped. more
