Railways and its chinese spending

In a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said the purchase order for 39,000 wheels for LHB coaches has been placed by the Indian Railways with Taiyuan, China against a global tender.

This is ridiculous when Indian msme are struggling. On localcircles itself we all are committing to buy less chinese each year and here we have railways compensating china for lower purchases by Indians. Shame railways shame actually more

We need to get china out of all business in India. more
This should not happened. We are Indians and we must use our manufacturing products. more
There are two facilities of manufacturing Railway wheels in India : (1) Steel Authority of India, Durgapur Steel Plant - Under the Govt. Of India: Ministry of Steel, and (2) Rail Wheel Factory (formerly known as Wheels and Axle Plant), Bengaluru - Under the Govt. of India, Ministry of Railways. Therefore, the necessity of importing this commodity from China ( and other countries) requires through elucidation. more
Though on papers msme is given importance, but they are not given the due support to manufacture these type of high value items. Further, why was SAIL and other steel industries not explored and given an opportunity. more
Railway Coach Wheels can not be manufactured by MSMEs. That is for sure. These are not like Lakshmi Ganesh Clay Idols, or like Fireworks; we are still importing even those from China, I believe. Some people will rather have the Indian populace walk on their feet from Mumbai to UP (like Covid times), than ride in trains having Chinese wheels. It is surprising that these pseudo patriots have not called for a ban on Chinese food so far. more
