Railways flexifare comparison to air travel
The recent polls are really stupid. It smells of a bias beyond doubt. The creator asks questions in such a way that whatever the voting pattern s/he can justify flexifare. Talk of transparency. This is outright an eyewash.
Yes, air-connectivity may not always be existing. But when you talk of Duronto or Rajdhani it is a point to point between major towns.
So please stop creating such stupid polls. Use grey matter of higher center rather than of the spinal cord.
Why the railways can not monetize by modernizing railway stations and offer office space etc on rent or such similar revenue generating activities. This can save lot of commuting time for meetings for people coming from out of town. You can also create banquet halls and also provide catering service at reasonable profit.
Use creativity and not old fashioned price rice and do not, repeat do not, steal ideas from Ola and such can providers - the surge prices have already been termed illegal by courts. more

I had posted a long comment LESS THAN 24 HOURS EARLIER showing how only 10% of the tickets will be available at the NORMAL rate. Of the remaining seats every 10% every 10% will increase by 10% till 60% of the seats are booked and the increase amounts to 50%. THE REMAINING 40% SEATS WILL BE AVAILABLE AT THE SAME RATE AT WHICH THE LAST SEAT, THAT IS NORMAL FARE PLUS THE INCREASED AMOUNT ( normal fare plus the 10% compounded increase 5 times). THUS ONLY THE FARE OF THE FIRST 10% OF THE SEATS WILL REMAIN UNAFFECTED BY THIS INCREASE . MY COMMENT HAS BEEN DELETED.IT CERTAINLY WAS NOT IRRELEVANT OR IMPROPER. As commented by me earlier, during the last few days it has been noted that comments which are not in line with the view of the circle manager are being deleted. The polls are not appropriately tuned. Why cannot railways increase suburban fares? Why only premium trains? Why cannot railways be transparent to spell out cross subsidy of passenger from freight earning and what is their plan to reduce subsidy. Why railways are not touching long distcnace SS fares? Smells of political intentions in poll season. I suggest Railways should go for increse in suburban fares at fixed rate every year for next five years to catch up and must come out with a plan to remove subsidy of passenger fare. Why re the fares high What do railways propose to do to cut cost of operation. more
