Dear Railways Circle Members:

Today, we would like to request your inputs on Key Issues that travellers (people with disability/special needs, people with young kids, etc) face at stations and in trains.

Once we understand the issues, we will review Root Causes and Solutions through separate posts with the objective of putting together a whitepaper on the subject.

We look forward to your inputs!

Walk into Egmore Station in Chennai especially platform nos 1 to three. One cannot miss the eyesore and stench emanating from the overflowing drains. These platforms stinks like hell. Southern Railway needs to come out of its deep coma. The GM should make surprise visits in incognito. Only then the GM of SR will understand the gimmicks the officials play to please him. more

At Chennai Central Suburban Railway Station premises, Railway Officers cause hindrances to commuters by parking their vehicles in front of premises. I have made so many representations to DRM ( Divisional Railway Manager, Chennai ) to shift the parking space of Railway Officers from the entrance of Chennai Central Suburban Railway Station ( MMC ) to somewhere else, but nothing was heeded. In fact, the parked vehicles cause lots of hindrance to commuters, who are going to and fro from the station. Also, all the express train tickets were being issued from this premise and hence long queue of commuters flock here all the time and again the parking vehicles cause trouble to them. I am attaching a snapshot with this post. Please do the needful to shift the parking space and see the portico was not being misused. more
Queue should be followed in each compartment and from the queue people with special needs be assisted to board. more
