Railways need to cut cost drastically

Railway Ministry earned Rs 3322 CR from passenger earnings till Oct 2020 due to covid19 pandemic; 90% lesser than previous year revenue generated from passenger services

Chairman railway board says. compared to previous year we have only earned about 10% revenue.

My question is why havent you implemented 40% salary cuts for all employees and why havent you laid off the worst 20% performers; because the tax payer is paying your salaries. Right? more

Performance judgement in Govt offices?? What's that?? Rather wait for another pay-commission and bonus for Railway employees. We pay taxes for feeding such people. more
Dear Mr. Ajay. I shall agree with you for cutting the salaries by 40% not only for railway employees but all employees across the board but at the same time shall disagree for retrenchment of the employees even if they are the deadwood during this time. Yes, dead wood must be shown doors at each point under normal circumstances rather the system should take care that no employee is allowed to fall in that category of deadwood. more
Taxpayers have to bear the cost of the low operation due to the pandemic. Hope that the railway board and the monistry have thought out, during the last few months, as to how to make the railways more efficient wrt usage of manpower, infrastructure, rolling stock, etc. There is a need to revise the passenger fares, particularly suburban, so that cross subsidies are eliminated. more
You have to understand the railway lobby. They're dangerous than Naxalites. They'll blow the train or rig the functioning of train in order to get what they want. more
The social obligations of the government would not permit of such harsh measures. The reforms are best evolved and executed when you have some leeway in normal times, and not as a knee jerk reaction during grave emergencies like the worldwide pandemic. more
