Railways Seat Reservation
I have a recommendation. I request railways to showcase the train seats available for reservation. I booked tickets for my parents' to & fro journey of 48 hours each side. My parents are 59 and 54 years old. My father has knee pain. To avoid any discomfort, I selected the lower berth seats option while doing reservation.
At the end, I got SU and Middle berth in 3AC for onward journey and SU and Upper Berth in 2AC for return journey.
If I can see the seats, I would have booked only lower seats or didn't book at all. I would appreciate if anything can be done in this regard.
I suggest for age 50 and above, seats allocation should be lower berth and in case it is not available, then the person doing reservation must be informed. So, accordingly he/she can take decision. more

Still in the present option if lower seat is not available amount from your bank is debited which comes back later in few days which is wrong. Most people do not have spare money to be blocked for few days. more

Yes this problem i too faced many times... But There is an option while booking ticket.. You can select one among these... at the end of page Before entering Captcha.. Book only if confirm berths are allotted None Book , only if all berths are allotted in same coach Book, only if at least 1 lower berth is allotted Book, only if 2 lower berths are allotted. The reservation system (Irctc) can introduce preferred options for selecting the seat options. Eg., Pregnant woman / Senior Citizen We can give age restriction to miss use the options Eg: If a pax specified his age above 55 options to choose the seat preference to lower seat/ default the system choose lower birth If a pax specified age 34 the system has to protect the automatically choose lower birth I hope this option will work priority to senior citizen and pregnant ladies seat options as per their wish. more
