Ramlila sees impact of slowdown

Had some visitors over for dinner yesterday who are involved with organising big Ram Lilas in Delhi. They are saying the Ram lilas are feelimg impact of slow downs and more than 60% of their members have dissapeared and they will be using costumes from last year. Also, less crackers too.
Guess many people of India may have to use their Diwali dresses from last year too. Which if you think about may not be such a bad thing. Atleast less waste, less plastic, less pollution from crakers. But overall seems like the slow down is not just rural and in cars but urban India too.

Both center and state Govt should look at doing something. more

I think it's a good idea to revive our culture n values. Young kids can learn a lot from Ramayana n other epics n scriptures. Those who are saying it's wastage of time, money n human lives may demand for all religious festivals to be banned like Kumbh mela, Durga pujas, Ganesha chaturthi n all.. they will never object to any political party meetings n show offs on Gandhi jayanti, 15 August n 26 January nor they Will boycott bollywood films n BCCI organised cricket matches or common wealth games..going to watch cricket matches in stadium or 5 star hotels will also not feed poor..they are talking about corruption in tickets for Ram Lila. had there not been corruption n ticket frauds for any film event, music concert, social events not to mention cricket matches n common wealth games? Corruption is everywhere in India. we need to make our organisations or institutions clean n corruption free. I think we need to revive our cultural events like Ram Lila n Kumbh as it gives employment to many artiest n small vendors like panipuri, Bhelpuri, toy n decoration item vendors, food stalls , icecream vendors and many more poor bread breaker get good market. If we need cricket matches, music concert , bollywood, political events , why not our own Dharmic infotainment n fest like Ram Lila... more
Slow down is the part of economy, and it was there n will be to, may be any goverment. more
I think such functions being organised in every nook and corner of north India are doing more harm than doing good for anyone. Such functions are just wasting millions of man hours, huge funds that can be diverted towards other more useful projects like; employment generation, upliftment of the under privileged, providing education, hunger eradication, fighting pollution etc.etc.. Such functions across community results in huge traffic jams, resulting in burning of excessive fuels, causing more pollution, wasting our resources, leading to loss of lives in ambulances due to jams, creates huge noise pollution, disturbing the aged and the students. Before any such function is organised, all the above points must be considered and must ensure no one is bothered or faces inconvenience at any cost. more
