Rape incidents rising every day
Newspapers are carrying reports of rape every day. It appears that rapists are not afraid of punishment as it takes many years for the wheels of justice to move.
When the Government will wake up and enact a separate Criminal Procedure Code CPC(r) for the most heinous crime of rape for the safety and security of women and girl children.
Some suggestions are given below for consideration:
1. FIR for the crime of rape should be recorded immediately. Any Police Officer refusing to record the FIR should be suspended.
2. Police should arrange for medical examination of the victim in a Government Hospital.
3. Investigation of rape cases should be done on war footing so that crucial evidence is not lost.
4. In case of rape the DNA evidence should be taken as proof of the crime.
5. Separate Fast Track Courts may be set up for rape cases.
6. There should be no provision for Appeal beyond High Court.
7. Death penalty should be awarded to all rapists. This will create fear in the minds of future rapists.
8. A time limit of 6 months should be set for final Judgment in rape cases.
However the above suggestions are not for the cases where a women has sexual relations with a man who has promised to marry her, but cries rape if that person breaks his promise. more

I will prefer to teach my son that girls are humans and any kind of mistreatment to them will be a crime. And any such mistreatment will never be accepted AND YOU WILL NOT BE MY SON ANYMORE. BE aware. more

In these columns we talk about rules and laws.hy not self-ethics? Ethics is a self-defined code of conduct. Ethics works before the crime is committed. After the commission of the crime, only law takes action and the punishment is awarded. But, if a person has ethics i.e. self-regulations mentally and feeling "this is wrong or immoral" the crime will not be committed and no punishment thereafter. Life of the individual happy and society will feel safe. So, it is better to teach the kids "what is right and what is wrong". When they will grow up, they will take the responsibility of their lives. How long will we seek patronage of Government for our self-guidance? Self-guidance, self-management, self-development as responsible citizen is most important and makes life happy, healthy and safe. more

Government can make rules, police can monitor but if we as parents have not taught our children to respect women then it is our fault. Time we stop blaming the govt for our bad parenting. Are we now expecting the govt to step into our homes to teach our children right from wrong? The govt can't stop these incidents only parents and society can. So instead of complaining and blaming let us find solutions on how to be better and more responsible parents. We need to take responsibility to teach our children to be better human beings, more respective, more ethical and more sensitive. All we seem to be teaching our children today is how to get what they want at any cost, we are always running - please stop and take a look at what our children are becoming. The govt can't do that. more
