I was a resident of Sec 9 Fbd before immigrating to Surrey,BC, Canada in 2013.And I realised what a vast difference there is in applying for a driving licence.Here the Motor Vehicles called ICBC have a room with 12 computers where you have to give the knowledge test(relating to driving regulations) and you have to get 39 out of 50 questions correct.You are then issued a Class 7 licence( learners in India) valid for 2years during which time you learn to drive the car.After 2years you give the road test and get a N(New or Novice) licence valid for 1 year after which you get Class 5 licence(normal regular licence).And you cannot bribe anyone for the licence.You can book the road test online and if you do not appear for the test you are fined $25. more

Also, another reason for poor traffic is that everyone has to either pay or use jugaad to get driver's license in Faridabad. Rs. 3500 is fixed in the sector 12 court premise for DL. You are required to sign the form and give thumb impression, that's all. Even if I wanted to do everything myself, it was of no use. Counter would not accept form without a tout. Driving Inspector was never found despite trying 3 times and meeting the SDM, even though I have USA driving license. It was much easier to get my DL in the USA than in corrupt Indian system. DL is never delivered to home address, even though DL office charges Rs. 100 for this service. You have to go and collect it. So, you know driving or not doesn't matter - nothing will work unless you spend Rs. 3500. And this is clearly reflected on the roads in Faridabad. You can easily differentiate a driver having Delhi DL and non-Delhi DL. This system needs to be appointment based and all officers must adhere to the appointment. more

Apart from their ineffectiveness in controlling traffic (such as autos on the Badarpur border), they seem to be out of ideas also. Faridabad traffic has been under lot of pressure due to Metro construction, but the traffic management has been poor. more

I rate Faridabad Taffic Police only 10-15% effective. They have seen sitting inside the kiosk and not controlling the traffic. more
