Rats in cinema hall - Consumers gets 67K as compensation
A consumer court in Assam recently ordered a cinema hall owner to pay ₹67,282 as compensation to a movie goer who was bitten by a rat during the screening of a film in 2018.
A bench of Kamrup District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (DCDRC) president AFA Bora, and members Archana Deka Lakhar and Tutumoni Deva Goswami relied upon the Supreme Court's observations in the Uphaar Cinemas Fire Tragedy case, as well as the fact that the woman had been administered a rabies shot later.
