Re.: Rumors about Six Days week and extending Working Hours

I do'nt know who coined this idea but this is really not a good and fruitful idea. Govt. is in policy making which requires fresh and quality mind. Govt. of India is not in physical work of factory or otherwise. The Govt. focus should be on how to get the things done i.e. successful implementation rather than indulging itself in small nitty-gritty which unnecessarily cause bad name to the Govt. Extending working hours by 1 or 2 hours will not make any difference rather Govt. focus should be on that all employees attending office , remain in the office or on duty during office hours instead roaming outside the work. It means the maximum output during 8 hours working or 40 hours working in a week. There should be a time frame to complete all the activities in time like Citizen Charter which is legally enforceable against the Govt. employees who fails to complete the task. There should be a compulsory order that those who are keeping their work pending till Friday, will attend office on Saturdays to complete the work. This order Govt. should issue. Because every Govt. employee is not required after office hours or on Saturdays. It need to be on specific task basis. The offices dealing with public in India are already functioning on Saturday (most of them). In view of better public service, these (public dealing offices) may function on alternate Saturdays. Unnecessary extending working hours and days will also waste lots of Govt. resources by engaging employees not required for function.

The intention of Govt. should be to cut Red-tapism in the system and speedy delivery which is a demand of the hour and the country. Make a change in attitude towards work, make people religious toward work rather than KAAMCHOR. A KAAMCHOR will not work even told to sit late or called on weekends. Bring the performers in front and send the laggers to the back row. We have to the mindset not the timeset.

The Govt. in early days should work on positive things rather than involving itself in small tiny things affecting the masses at large. There are lot more things to do in public interest.

This is a good step of extending working time and 6 days working. all improvements may not be overnight but direction is good & step by step it will show results. ( 5 day week culture is not affordable for our country. ) more
