From Tata to Mumbai there is only 12 berth quota in 3A. Howrah-Mumbai quota is almost 500 berths. So you hardly get Tata Mumbai tkt. You are forced to buy Howrah Mumbai Tkt with boarding at Tata. You pay for journey you will not perform. You also pay for the food that was served between Howrah-Tata, but you did not take. Howrah Mumbai is always available, but Tata-Mumbai is full immediately. I think this is a very carefully designed way of fleecing passengers.Railway and also the catering vendor getting rich. Same story would be true for all Duranto trains. Can some RTI activist find out how many tkts are booked Howrah-Mumbai with boarding at Tata?

I do not think that Duronto journey should have been dilute by giving quota from Tatanagar to Mumbai. Originally Duronto was made for "Non stop hassle free journey for Point to Point journey between relly Large Cities/ Metros. There is GARIB RATH for people to join from intermediate stations. Then every other Mail, Express train stops at all necessary places. PLEASE DO NOT DILUTE THE QUALITY, COMFORT AND CONVENIENCE FOR THOSE PASSENGERS WHO DO NOT WISH TO SPEND ON AIR TRAVEL, BUT CAN AND ARE WILLING TO PAY POINT TO POINT FARE. fOR POPULISM PLEASE DO NOT SPOIL A GOOD THING RUNNING.( Between Tatanagar to Mumbai there are minimum 10 Mail/ Express trains run every day !). more

Jayesh, Since Dec 22nd 2015, tkts for intermediate stations (where it anyway stops for technical reasons) is very much allowed. You try to book in any Duranto and see it for yourself. Or check quota at indianrail.gov.in. I think you missed this news when it was flashed across. It is a great service started by Railways. Some tweaking is perhaps needed. more

Duranto Trains are Point to Point Trains and hence intermediate point station don't get quota as said by S K Sinha. There are many other Trains that stop at Tatanagar you can travel in that trains. more
