Reducing the travel time and increasing the comfort level

1. It is high time now that the Indian Railways should reduce the travel time of all trains. Especially the once which take more than 24 Hrs. If travel time is maintained between 14 and 16 Hrs max I think it will definitely increase the passenger flow as people will prefer to take the rail route rather than by air.
2. For this the Railways should also give the best comfort i.e increase the no. of A/C coaches, good food, increase cleanliness etc. In case the railways can reduce the travel time to 12 to 14 hrs, they can introduce A/C chair car coaches with good leg rooms and pushback features instead of sleeper coaches, thus accommodating more passenger. This inturn will increase the revenue of the railways. I think people who wants comfort and faster travel will never mind to pay little more for such type of facilities.
3. Similarly extending the train destinations to the very last station of the state. or atleast connecting the trains with other trains inorder to fulfill the above requirement.
4. Providing efficient bio toilet in every train. This should be done on urgent basis.
5. Similarly there should be a 3rd party inspection for overall hygiene and especially the pest control. I have seen cockroaches & rats moving around in spite of pest control stickers showing the valid dates. One just cannot tolerate cockroaches moving around when you are eating the food.
6. Giving roof covers for the entire platform area is also something the railways should be looking into on urgent basis. more

Reducing travel time is very much required. With increased speed and less stoppage this can be achieved. Bullet trains will not come in India in near future. more  
Flight is point to point service. Train is not like flight. It has to satisfy all intermediate station passengers. So, it has to stop at many intermediate stations and can not be operated on point to point basis. Many poor people are traveling in trains. more  
1. I travel many time general compartments find passenger over crowded with no place sitting/standing also. My suggestion changing all general compartments into sitting system so that all the passenger will get an seat to sit ( similar to II sitting like local train from Hosur to Bangalore similar seating system will help more passenger can travel with seating facility's. This will help more lady passenger/senior citizen and Childrens. I found many traveller sleeping in general compartments and not providing seat to the other commuters. 2. We can void ticket less travel on general compartments each and every station the checking inspector has to check the passenger on daily basis this will void ticket less traveller to know that inspector on duty on daily to caught for fine. 3. changing many tracking line in india to void long travel time. Many lines are very long distance. 4. cleaning toilet on regular basis on all class of booking compartments. more  
I have seen that the train halts at many places for hours together for getting signals. Also the speed on normal gradients without curves is also at times very poor. Surely this problem can be solved. The railways needs to think in a better way to solve this issues. If infrastructure needs to be improved for the said purpose then it has to be done. After all it the need of the time. People want to travel fast and reach the destination at the earliest. If rajdhani for eg. From Mumbai to New Delhi can take lesser time to reach the destination then why not the others. So we need to upgrade. more  
That is engineering. What you have in mind is max.speed,but running speed depends on condition of soil,gradient(slope),curves,bridges,weather,track strength etc.,.so if you want a running speed of say, 100 kmph you need a track capable of withstanding speeds of 150-180 kmph.that means you have to invest more on high speed tracks and of course on high speed coaches. more
