Reducing Vulnerability of Railways to Terrorism - Inputs Needed

Though multiple structured discussions have taken place in the last 6 months on Safety in Railways, we would like to seek your specific inputs on how acts and impact of terrorism can be best minimized on the Railways Network i.e Trains, Tracks, Stations.

Though many of the systems driven solutions will take a while to implement, please share any specific things that can be implemented in the short term (both by Railways and Do's/Don'ts/Participation by passengers) that can help prevent incidents.

We look forward to your specific inputs! more

Ref my comments above Under track please add feasibility study of monitoring complete track network through satellite for any act of disruption , the display of respective section should come on each traffic controller screen more
Following points suggested - 1 Track - India has vast network of rail ways hence it becomes difficult to check/guard vast net work by authorities . It is suggested that village punchayat/ city authorities and railway authorities should keep vigil ,through their local people, through out India for Vulnerability of Railways to Terrorism and flooding / washing away of tracks. A common simple emergency telephone no should be known to them to alert nearest station and ultimately traffic controller and authorities . This can be worked by railways. 2 stations - Airport type system may be followed . Valid ticket, Id card are a must . Luggage can be screened and if possible loaded as per practice . Cc tv camera and safety devices to be installed at appropriate positions 2Trains Each passenger to be checked . In case of stops at outer signals or because of other reasons people should not be allowed to board the train. more
