Remdesivir

I am a 3rd year MBBS student. My father (an orthopaedic surgeon) is presently admitted at Max multisuper speciality hospital, saket, new delhi for treatment as he is a SUSPECTED COVID pt. (2 RT PCR tests came NEGATIVE). On day one, the physicians took consent for adminstration of REMDESIVIR and CLAIMED to have STARTED the medication right away. But AFTER 2 DAYS they took a U TURN from their earlier statement saying that he DOESNT NEED remdesivir as he is a SUSPECTED CASE and NOT A LAB CONFIRMED pt. But as per the latest US FDA guidelines, ALL HOPITALISED PATIENTS (COVID SUSPECT AS WELL AS LAB CONFIRMED) MUST GET REMDESIVIR IRRESPECTIVE OF THE SEVERITY OF THE DISEASE. more

And last but not the least, why we are always looking to US FDA Guidelines?? What our esteemed institutions like AIIMS & ICMR are doing? more
Because we believe that America is our matha, pitha, guru, acharya......
Jokes apart, it is time we told them that we are not lesser than you in any way. "The how to" of this is not difficult, provided there is willlingness from the administrators. more
What is the purpose of posting this please? You have not raised any issue for comments from this Circle. Moreover, almost all Doctors behave in this fashion with their patients everyday and your case is no exception. Sorry, perhaps, your own Father also might have been doing so with his patients. You, being an MBBS student, may treat this as a good practical lesson learnt to become a better Doctor while dealing with the your future patients. more
I'd suggest to go slow with it unless doctors think it is absolutely needed. It is not free from side effects, not all bodies respond well. more
Mr. Khan, being a MBBS student, that too in year year, you must have thrown light on the issue as to whether Doctor did right or wrong. You have left us to derive our conclusion. more
Looks fishy more
