Remedies for Stranded Aircel Subscribers
Aircel subscribers have been left stranded. Aircel does not seem to have the intent and/or capacity to serve them any more. Most of the porting requests sent by subscribers remain unfulfilled despite being escalated to TRAI and DOT.
Do the subscribers have a cost effective and time critical remedy to retain their number as it is quite obvious that those who are using their Aircel number with banks, aadhaar, investments etc cannot afford to forego it. more

A similar situation happened to Reliance Communication (RCOM) some 1 year ago. There is already a free Number Portability Scheme whereby one can freely migrate from one service provider to another of user's choice. Aircell is bound to release your number on demand and for porting to another Service Provider. In case there is any lapse on Aircell's part TRAI would do the needful as was done in the case of RCOM. Where will you migrate to ? I found still BSNL was the best among the worst, although it is run by the Government! RJIO never !! more

Thanks! I am aware of the MNP. The reason behind raising the issue in this circle was because Aircel is not providing porting code (UPC) and things cannot move without UPC. Unfortunately, TRAI does not seem to be doing the needful. I agree with your comment about BSNL. more

Some year back te BPL/Loop Mobile has did not give the deposit obtain from the customer as the practice of deposit are there at the time of mobile service started. more

The only way to help the customers is to give them sim cards from other service providers using the number of Aircel . Of course the proof is Aadhaar linked number. This does not involve any work from the Aircel. more

Honestly, Reliance exited gracefully. They sent the porting codes themselves. more
