Remove the requirement for medical certificate for license renewal

50+ aged citizens are required to get a medical certificate from a govt registered doctor for renewal of driving license. This has no value (except for the doctor), since the doctor only takes the money and puts his/her stamp on the certificate. One can also get this by paying money to driving schools (for the complete renewal process) or to touts or to those vendors who upload documents to the rto site. This is akin to a bribe to the doctor for doing nothing. Today, the younger generation is more prone to illness than the elders because of their sedentary lifestyle.
The Transport department could as well do away with this requirement. They could add this (Rs. 50) to the renewal fees and share the spoils with the doctors. more

If medical certificate is a must, then let the authorities put up the information on what are those medical conditions which can disqualify a person from getting a license. more
Data sharing and thereafter mining may be done, from the exercising collating the data, for better service efficiencies utilising artificial intelligence. Of course, the customer may optionally choose to share his or her data. No insurance claim honoured, unless one has a valid driving license, being such an application of information sharing. more
The Doctor Certificate is sometimes mandatory for vision, colour blindness , Fits etc. But give this jobs to Govt. Hospitals for Certification. Each test takes 15-20 minutes. Give appointment to 25-30 peoples per day per ward hospital. It will solve the problem. more
Not ideal, but optimal, the solution here! Even the doctor who charges Rs.300 would just put his/her stamp, thereby profiteering from a formality! Nonetheless, this remains an attention directing and record keeping exercise, at least. Eventually, see how much better than before, becoming technologically assisted, have the licensing authorities become. Minimum human discretion, meaning bribery, involved now. more
agree fully, its more of a menace more
