Some time back I had written in the circles about reality shows and how they are inappropriate for children. Glad to see I&B ministry take note of the same and issued orders against the same below. I also hope they act on inappropriate and pan masala ads that are shown

All private satellite TV Channels are expected to abide by the provisions contained in Programme & Advertising Codes prescribed under the Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act, 1995 and rules framed. As per the rules, no programme should be carried on TV which denigrates children, and further that programmes meant for children should not contain any bad language or explicit scenes of violence.

The Ministry has accordingly issued an Advisory to all private satellite TV channels to avoid showing children in indecent, suggestive and inappropriate manner in dance reality shows or other such programmes. The channels have been further advised to exercise maximum restraint, sensitivity and caution while showing such reality shows and programmes.

I&B Ministry has noticed that several dance based reality TV shows portray young children performing dance moves originally done by adults in movies and other popular modes of entertainment. These moves are often suggestive and age-inappropriate. Such acts may also have distressing impact on children, impacting them at a young and impressionable age. more

Needless to say that serious talks should also be conducted with "organisers of such shows involving minor children"......It should and must be a "united decision"...... more
A rather complicated subject, folks! Solutions offered may be many, and those may also be relatively subjective, but for effective solutions, consultation and guidance of psychologists, specialising in advising both children and parents equally, would appear mandatory. School teachers should also not be totally bracketed out from such consultations, because, a teacher's word generally weighs more than any parental or other advice for children in the formative years. more
We are watching ''Junior Super Singer'' by Star Jalsha from 8:30PM to 9:30PM on Sat & Sun where children barely maximum 10-12 years of age are sing Love songs and other songs sung by Adults! Judges are paid to judge, parents are brainwashed to send their child(Adult) to these programmes to win prizes, money, recognition etc. Shame on all of adults who are spoiling our children's lives. Irresponsible and senseless act by Star Jalsha. more
