In my report to the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, GoI, suggested that this particular segment of healthcare delivery right from medical education, to pharmaceutical industry to hospitals, to pathological & diagnostic labs should be placed under "Limited Emergency" for a period of not less than three years with "No Appeal, No Dalil" powers to the governments at the Centre and States. I very strongly recommend action to stop malpractices by hospitals, doctors, drug manufacturers/distributors and chemists who make large amount of money by squeezing patients by excessive charges, unnecessary references and tests, unduly delayed treatments and discharges of indoor patients. Many families have gone bankrupt by such misdoings by medical industry and still lost their dear ones . As a matter of fact there should be upper limit of various types of charges and billings above specified limits should be mandatory to be reported to legal authority.
