RESERVATION PROBLEMS FACED BY SENIOR CITIZENS

13 years elder.I am 83. Got done heart by pass surgery and holderof a certificte for getting facilities like handicaps.Still earning had and regular payer of income Tax.unlike you I always book always in advance. Births are available but not lower birth. Nobody helps. Only in case before preparation of chart and release of quotas sometimes I made written request to Reservation supervisor with my certificate sometime I get. Complaints/ References had no results. There is no Way out.

EQ is no more relevant as many faster mode of travel are available now. EQ may be allotted to sr citizens. more
I saw many a times that younger people of age below 30 were also allotted Lower Berths - perhaps, they might have booked earlier. And I also say, when these young brats and chicks, never agree to exchange their Lower Berths with the Senior Citizens. Therefore, I say that humanity remained in WhatsApp postings only but it costs NOTHING. The IRCTC will never change their logic of allotment of seats. They have their legacy. Only thing is that we may take a consent of young people of age less than 45 or 50 whether they allow IRCTC to change their Lower Seats at the time of chart preparation. An SMS can go with changed position. Otherwise nothing is going to happen. more
To my knowledge, in one 3 AC coach there are 16 lower berths. Of this 6 lower berths goes in tatkal quota (tatkal 20 per coach) 3 lower berth quota 2 lower berths in EQ . the remaining is only 5. As per the present system if LB quota is available it is automatically alloted in the system if you are elegible for LB quota. Again LB quota is for male above 60 and female above 45 years. and at counter pregnent women also given LB quota. The LB in general is alloted in reservation sequence. I do not know which train you reserved. If the train has three or more 3AC coaches. the availability of 33 will surely be upper and side upper except stray cases of LB cancellation at the time of your reservaion. It is advisable in such circumstances to go to the reservation counter in person and check a berth of your convenience is available. If not available try another date or train. more
I am 68 years old.I booked 6 tickets by irctc ON 6TH MARCH 2019 from HOWRAH to N delhi with my 61 years old handicapped wife AND ONE SR CITIZEN WOMEN in RAJDHANI KOLKOTA12301 2AC, vacant seats was 33.I WAS HOPING AT LEAST TWO LOWER SEATS . BUT VERY SAD TO SEE THE FINALE BOOKED SEATS IN IRCTC BOOKING.ALL SEATS BOOKED WERE SIDE UPPER.IMAGING HOW WE OLD PERSONS COULD ABLE TO OCCUPY SIDE UPPER SEATS.RESULT I HAVE TO CANCELLED THE TICKETS TO MAKE PROFIT IRCTC. IS IT NOT MOCKERY FOR THE SR. CITIZENS.CRY IN WILDERNESS.A HANDICAPPED PERSON CAN GET TICKETS SHOWING CERTIFICATES FROM THE COUNTER BUT NOT FROM IRCTC WITHOUT TAKING ID CARD FROM RAILWAY WHERE CORRUPTION IS PREVAILING. With more and more Sr citizens opting to travel, it is becoming difficult to get a lower berth. The railways should charge extra for lower berths so that the demand for lower berths will climb down and only those genuinely in need can pay extra and book a lower berth. more
