Reserving a Tatkal Ticket

Last month when i send my brother to book a Takal ticket for myself and my family, my brother was harassed by RPF. He was harassed saying that only the passenger can book a ticket and no other can book a tatkal ticket on behalf of the passenger. They threatened him by book him a case as a tout selling tatkal tickets illegally. Is it true that only passengers they themselves should book the Tatkal tickets from reservation counters.

My brother was carrying the reservation form duly filled, original and photocopy of my id card duly signed. Even though showing all this, he was harassed and finally wrote a letter by me saying that we had done a mistake by arguing with the RPF by disturbing their duty.

Everything happened in the RPF station in front of the Sub Inspector.

Can anyone clarify me in this regard? more

For those persons who are aggrieved with the services provided by Railways at any stage should store these 2 numbers in their Mobile Phone : Railway All India Helpline No. : 1322 and SMS your complaint with details to : 08121281212. You will get a registration SMS immediately and your complaint is lodged very easily. Try these numbers once in case of need off-course and see the result. I saw the results once, you also try !!! more

I complaint the matter to TT but they didn't do anything. Inside the train has a lot of Rat and the fans fitted in the train have fully dusts ..... there is no cleaning in bathrooms I paid a sum of RS. 3500 for one ticket but the atmosphere of the train was only a third class..... please provide a good canteen, some good staff, safety and cleaning should ensure every big stations by a reputed railway staff..... At Madurai I found the representatives of agents were in Que for tatkal tickets. more
In this country the honest are harrassed. The same RPF people allow touts to book n number of Tatkal tickets by agents and touts. The entire system of ticket booking of the railways is full of corruption. Agents charge you about Rs.500.00 for getting you a tatkal ticket . The RPF must also be getting a cut out of this. If a genuine representative of a person who wants to travel by Tatkal is not allowed, we would like to know from the Rly. authorities how agents are allowed to book Tatkal tickets for passengers. Who will answer this question. Secondly the system of Agents for Railway booking should be abolished and all quotas should be made open to public through window/internet booking. Railway is a Govt. organanisation, and hence why should Govt. appoint agents when it has appointed so many on their pay rolls. This system of Agents should be abolished with immediate effect. more
yes yes yes.. thats right. absolutely right. it happende to me once. i went to book a tatkal ticket for my Aunt aged above 65 who is a polio patient. the ticket clerk says the passenger should be present or else the ticket cant be given. i had produced all the necessary ID documents even with her signature. but still he wont accept that. i also told him that u can verify in the train on the journey date ands then if u find any discrepancy, u can do whatever. but still.. "NO. RULES ARE RULES". now what kind of state of mind are they in. in an urge to follow RULES the clerks have lost all common sense of thinking as a human being. they think that they are GODs providing tickets to the passengers. this kind of attitude is not only at the ticket counter, all over the country in many places, we have the attitude of "i am the one who is giving him a service, so i can harass the customer as i like. he is entitled to the torture". but they have that famous quote of Gandhiji on customers hanging on the wall behind them. more
