Resevation through IRCTC.
While booking thru IRCTC, the berth numbers that are available should be offered for choosing the suitable ones BEFORE making payment. I with some ladies & children were allotted 5 UBs in 2 compartments that I had to cancel by paying fees. more

Railways is still in 70's. This is computer era, do away with dedicated (based on fix seats) quota for every station. Now it is possible to maintain quota through computer, it can still gives flexibility to the passengers to choose from wide range. more

There is some sense in the suggestion. Specially for one lady with a child and senior citizens the facility of choosing the birth can be made. more

Many a times I experienced that the person book well in advance is not been allotted any lower birth but it is allotted to a passenger booked the birth at an later date.( other than Sr citizen). there is an option to choose the upper or lower birth at the time of net booking but very rarely it gives birth as per choice.If chosen type of birth is not available there must be a notification before asking for payment. more

available seat/berth nos.if displayed before booking option will help a lot to select the required seat/berth. more
