Responsiveness of Govt Websites/Phone Numbers - Key Issues

Dear Friends

One of the key priorities identified by our circle for the new Government was Getting Government Department Websites and Phone Numbers to be responsive. (See the complete priority list from
Citizens to Government here: http://tinyurl.com/mgtqf8m)

With this post, I request every member to outline issues related to the lack of responsiveness of Government websites and phone numbers.

Once we identify all the issues, we will work on Root Causes and Solutions with the objective of giving the Government an overview and specific solutions we would like to see implemented.

I look forward to your inputs!

First of all the Administrative Officers should be bound for at least one hour everyday at their offices to meet and to solve the problems of the general public. Usually I have observed that these officers are not meeting the general public everyday and the public is getting frustrated. more
Telephone is a time waster. The concerned agencies be requested to respond on mail. When a response is received on mail it has some validity. Most of the telephone conversations do not facilitate anything at all. Most of the time the person enquiring does not have all the details nor the person receiving the call can provide any instantaneous answer as the case is to be referred on the file. Result is the enquirer is asked to call back with the requisite details. The call is thus wasted. The government has yet not done away with the file system. If most of us are used to texting, I see no reason as to why one cannot raise a query with complete details as a mail to a concerned official. more
Hi.. To transform India its correct that phone number should be correct, if phone numbers are correct then somebody should response (pickup the the phones)...above all there should be another alternative by IVRS and Ticket number should be given to a person who call and approx. resolution time. Please go through problems due to non responsive / no mail contact details faced by me with Gujarat Housing Board; For Mukhyamantri Housing scheme launched by Gujarat Govt., I applied for the same, draw happened...(As at that time Shri Modiji were there)....Selected my name in draw....required document submitted to Gujarat Housing board (April-2014)....since that day up-to this month September-2014 didn't receive any communication from Gujarat Housing board and while calling through Housing Board helpline number 1800 102 2256 (it is temporary out of order) and calling to Housing board land line 0261-2331453 / 2342999 nobody picking the phone. For above case if Housing board acts fast by scrutinizing documents fast as approx. 1400 persons selected in draw and by verifying only 1400 documents from all selected applicant then they pay their remaining 20% amount which comes in crore (millions). And if you calculate its interest then its a huge amount Government is loosing by not acting fast by their employee. Didn't understand how peoples are working...if this type of attitude continues then NOBODY CAN TRANSFORM INDIA...WE HAVE TO IMPLEMENT HIRE/FIRE POLICY FOR EVERYBODY INCLUDING GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEE LIKE OTHER COUNTRIES THEN ONLY INDIA WILL BECOME LEADER IN ALL RESPECT.... more
It's really a great issue. As a citizen I feel sometimes very disgusted and frustrated when the responsible officers in the Government or Municipality authority like KMC avoid talks by not responding to calls or when there is no email id available to ventilate the problem or grievance or even when available, departments do not care to reply or respond. This happens to Companies working like Government such as the Electric Supply Corp of Kolkata and to add fire to the fuel the media refuses to publish simple letters airing displeasure against the government, seeking remedies. There seems to be understanding between the media and the government in some places. What the employees of the departments do one has to accept. The other alternative is to be liberal in spending to get one's works done. One suffers tedious problems in the absence of proper help from the higher authorities. more
